Yet another project from boundary-pushing jazz tenor saxophonist Ken Vandermark, (((Powerhouse Sound))) were conceived by Vandermark as a way to focus on performing music based around the bass guitar. To these ends, Vandermark paired up with bassists Nate McBride and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten. Also featured in the ensemble are guitarist Jeff Parker, drummers Paal Nilssen-Love and John Herndon, and electronic musician Lasse Marhaug. The group released its debut album, Oslo/Chicago: Breaks, on Atavistic in 2007.
