The Evaporators'
Honk the Horn 7" is a small collection of no-holds-barred, goofball punk rock. Like a distinctly Canadian Dead Milkmen mixing in a little new wave organ, the Evaporators let loose with crazy falsetto chouses and silly themes on songs like "Touch Wood" and the title track. The A-side even includes a short interview between vocalist Nardwuar and
Tommy Lee regarding the infamous, explicit boating incident caught on videotape. The B-side throws out the warped stampede of voices, whines, and shouts on "I'm a Critic Like the Rest of Them" and the groovy "I Don't Need My Friends to Tell Me Who My Friends Are," a would-be catchy tune which is broken up by a comic spoken word break, of course.
