Every now and then a movie comes along that is just frustrating; “Sinister” is one of those movies. It is frustrating because there is something there. In an age of remakes and sequels it is nice to see something new in the horror genre, but it just misses the mark with what it was trying to accomplish. The movie creates and interesting storyline that it kind of glosses over, at times information is revealed too quickly and then there is awhile until the next piece of the puzzle. Perhaps the hardest part of making a horror movie is creating the evil entity. They have succeeded here the creature has a cool look and an interesting back story, unfortunately his screen time is minimal and they only scratch the surface of the back story. There are a few scares, but like everything else with the movie the potential is there for more.  All in all “Sinister” was a bit of a disappointment; if they make a follow up perhaps they can fix some of the problems that covered what was a solid idea.
