After an amazing day like today where you showed me with your generosity why Ottawa is a great city to live in (190,915$ for CHEO!), I thought I would share with you this little video that proves that acts of kindness don't go unnoticed!
This is a great short video about a security camera catching heroic, funny and touching moments. Surprisingly, it's a Coke ad. I’m not sure how much soda it sold, but the message -- like you today -- warms my heart!
It's not like we need a reminder that time flies, but when our very own Megan posted this on her facebook page, I took a peak and could not believe some of the things I was reading!
WHAT?! The karate kid is now the age that Mr Miyagi was in the movie -- 51... that can't be!
READ ON for 47 more facts that might traumatise you a tad... sorry!
So I am not sure of the validity of this study, but apparently men who stare at breasts on a daily basis show lower rates of heart problems, a lower resting heart rate and lower blood pressure. So since it’s good for you—oogled on, just try not to be caught in the act!
Poor Pentti Arajarvi, husband of the president of Finland, there he is sitting at a state dinner in Denmark next to Princess Mary of Denmark when bored, he oogles at her nicely jewel chest...
Watch as she suddenly turns to him and he not-quickly-enough nor very-convincingly averts his gaze to the ceiling! Boy does she give him a dirty look before covering her cleavage with her hand...
Let’s just hope he was actually admiring the jewels around her neck...
It almost seems like one of Jay Leno's pranks got pranked!
There is this recurring skit on the "Tonight Show” called Pumpcast News -- where a fake news anchor confronts people at the gas pump. This past Thursday, it featured a musical couple that absolutely stole the show!
Watch what unfolds when the Pumpcast Newscaster tried to get this couple to sing for a free pump of gas. It could not have turned out any better & you're going to want to watch til the end!!!
The couple was so great that Jay Leno invited them on the "Tonight Show". Look what happens:
I LOVE this couple!! I want a happy marriage like that... maybe I need to start going to kareoke!
This is pretty powerful... or at least, it makes you think! Watching these straight people react to being asked a question that gay people have been asked forever is pretty delightful.
If only more people were this empathetic and understanding...

Remember that scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory where he drinks the tea and then eats the cup? Here is a way to recreate it:
- Vanilla sandwich cookie wafers
- Reese's Miniature Peanut Butter Cups
- Ice cream sugar cones (top 1-1/2 inch)
- Circle pretzels (found in Chex Mix Sweet 'n Salty Honey Nut mix)
- Chocolate frosting (chocolate pudding, chocolate ganache, etc.)
- Chocolate or vanilla candy melts
1) Cut the sugar cones to 1-1/2 inches. To avoid breaking them, dip the bottoms in warm water for 20 seconds. Using a serrated knife, trim off where the wet area meets the dry. Allow these to dry completely before assembling.
2) Separate the cookie wafers and clean off filling.
3) Trim off one small piece of the circle pretzels to create two handle points.
4) Melt two ounces of chocolate or vanilla candy melts in a zip-top bag in the microwave ...
I've tried the pill and it's not working.... so I looked into homemade allergy relief.
Homemade remedies consisting of herbal recipes are often highly effective at providing allergy relief for hay fever sufferers.
Chamomile tea is reputed to relieve hay fever symptoms. Some herbalists suggest smearing chamomile and lemon oil on a tissue and inhaling to prevent hay fever symptoms.
Ginger tea and raw honey works to break up chest congestion and loosen phlegm. It strengthens the immune system and acts as a natural antihistamine.
Green tea blocks the production of histamine and is one of the best homemade remedies for building the immune system.
Peppermint tea relieves nasal and sinus congestion. Drink it cold to sooth coughing associated with hay fever and allergies.
Butterbur reduces inflammation, blocking histamines and leukotrienes. Studies suggest the herb is effective for relieving sneezing, itchy eyes, sinus congestion and headaches. People allergic to ragweed ...
Most people don’t make headlines for writing mortgage cheques, but a payment made by a 23-year-old Ottawa man has made him an online star!
Aba Atlas saved his entry-level military salary for two years in order to pay down the mortgage on his mother’s home. His years of frugality culminated in an emotional presentation that he captured on video and posted to YouTube.
“When I put it together, I didn’t think it would blow up like this. I’m humbled by the response and I think it’s good that positive energy is going everywhere, but I don’t want to make it seem like it’s about me.”
The true focus of the video should be his mother. The gift she’s enjoying now doesn’t compensate for the grief she’s experienced over the years -- working hard to make ends meet for her and her 5 children. Atlas wasn't an easy teenager either... dabbled ...
With warmer temperatures comes allergy season... A reported 44% of people with allergies reported waking up feeling fatigued, even though they thought they got a good night's sleep.
Why do allergies affect our sleep so much? A congested nose means less oxygen to your body leading to restlessness. I was up at 4am rubbing my eyes and blowing my nose...
Here are some ways to make your sleep more peaceful:
- Keep your clothes off your bed. Pollen clings to your clothes from outside so when you get home, toss them in the laundry basket.
- Get rid of old books. Older books get moldy. Keep them out of your bedroom.
- Freeze your pillows. Pillows are loaded with dust mites. Put your pillow in the freezer for 12 hours every 1 to 2 weeks, the cold will kill the mites.
Hope these tricks help! I am sure that the fact that the ...
Oh Oh... here we go again! This time in Ireland... Two students who were making a film for college think they may have captured footage of something that looks like the Loch Ness Monster.
They posted this video (below) with the following description: "Was shooting in Lough Foyle when this thing went past us. It was massive. Really don't know what it was. There have been whales in the Lough before so maybe that's what it was but Matthew was closer than we were and says it was no whale. Looks like we have our own Loch Ness Monster?! Any experts out there? We're still filming so if it shows up again we'll do our best to get a better shot of it. Our film's called 'Fishing with David Lynch', which was why I was wearing the suit (a David Lynch costume.)"

U2 have released a previously unseen music video with Willie Nelson.
They collaborated back in 2003 to record 'Slow Dancing', which was written by Bono. While a live version of the track could be found on 'The Essential Willie Nelson' album, no official footage was previously available. Until now...
As a tribute to Willie Nelson's 80th birthday, U2 posted the video with a credit that reads: "Happy birthday Willie! 80 and still a pilgrim. All the best from Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam."
Collaborations are becoming the norm in the music industry and I have to say that I mostly like them! I was surprised to hear about this collaboration though --- Eddie Van Halen & rap legend LL Cool J.... Hummmm now that is original!
Well, those tunes are now available to hear online! Both songs are taken from LL's new CD Authentic. Take a listen here:
"We're The Greatest" (I don't like this one....)
"Not Leaving You Tonight" (Eddie rocks at 2:52)
