So of these might seem totally ridiculous, but they are true! Here are 6 obscure US Government facts:

1. Furbies were banned back in 1998 from the National Security Agency headquarters.... Why?  It was feared that Furbies would overhear top secret information, which would then be shared with others when the toys began to talk!!

2. The first president of the United States was not George Washington, technically. John Hanson, who at the time was considered a black man because of his Moorish roots, was elected by Congress to be "President of the United States in Congress Assembled." There were six others elected this way before George Washington's famed term.

3. In January of 2010, President Obama signed into effect Executive Order 13526. This order declassifies many documents that the government kept from the American people for years. The most popular released documents are those regarding Area 51. Another little-know tidbit is Hillary Clinton's schedule during her husband's presidency. This document shows that Hillary was in the White House at the same time Monica and Bill were making their own history! Wow...

4. The U.S. national debt increases by nearly $4 billion dollars a day. That amount is nearly inconceivable.

5.The CIA attempted to mimic nature and make spy devices that looked like bugs, birds and other animals. They used live pigeons wearing "pigeon-cams" to do surveillance. These spies were known as Project Ornithopter and Insectothopter.

6. The United States government owns about 34% of all land in the U.S. according to the Department of Agriculture. Wonder if they farm this land?
