In this promotional video, a beaming Roy Halladay just can’t believe his luck. He finally talked his wife, Brandy, into allowing him to purchase the ICON A-5 sport airplane.
It’s been described as a “jet ski with wings.” It could land on water or land. It was a two man plane that was equipped with a parachute. A parachute that was for the craft, not the individual. You could park it in your own garage; the wings would fold up.
It was one cool purchase. A $400,000 dollar toy.
He only had it for a few weeks. He was celebrating his free time and love for flying in retirement, and he was really, really enjoying himself.
Maybe a little too much?
The future Hall of Famer had been spotted flying his new purchase over the Gulf of Mexico, just off the coast of Florida, rather aggressively in recent weeks.
In fact eye witnesses reported that they couldn’t believe the way he was flying it. He was tricking. He was doggin’ it. He would gain altitude, and then zoom just feet above the water surface. And then he would do it again.
