Matt Duchene was pulled from the ice when the deal was confirmed that he was to join the Ottawa Senators. What followed is nothing less than a whirlwind.
After his very first practice with our hometown team, he describes what the last 48 hours has been like for him.
We lost Andrew Hammond, Kyle Turris and Shane Bowers. The entire deal involves 9 moves, which are detailed here.
Some unexpected fallout of the deal may seem trivial to some, but I really don’t know what we should do with my studio buddy who has been my quiet sidekick long enough to collect some dust on his bobbly helmet hair.
Reaction from fans and community groups was swift about the departure of Kyle Turris. He has a way with kids that is impossible to deny.
Here’s a few of the local accolades posted to Twitter in the last day:
We have to say goodbye to another legend too.
Goalie Andrew Hammond will forever be in our hearts for that wild ride he delivered when called up in 2015 after both our goalies were injured. Hammond shone in net and helped the team dig out of the bottom of the ranks to make the playoffs in what I thought worthy of a Hollywood film about the ultimate underdog story!
Remember the hamburgers that fans threw onto the ice after every win? Hammond even earned free hamburgers for life from McDonalds!
We’ll miss you guys. You were great for the team and for Ottawa as a community.
Thanks for the memories!
