After all, the sign said ‘Pedestrian Bridge’.
Calgary Transit workers were surprised to see that their cameras captured this moose out for a stroll. It crossed the pedestrian bridge sometime last night, and they assume he just kept going.
The sighting coincides with #WorldAnimalDay.
The pedestrian bridge acts as a type of ‘ecopassage’, a safe way for wildlife to cross an otherwise dangerous place, usually roads. Alberta has built them for deer and other wildlife over their highways and the animals learn fairly quickly to use them.
Did you know that in Ontario we have safe passage routes for snakes and turtles?
Random acts of kindness make the world a kinder place.
There are so many ways to help put an end to extinction. The United Nations has great ideas in their, ‘Lazy Person’s Guide For Saving The World‘! Here are my favourite 5:
- Eat less meat
- Eat only sustainable seafood
- Use a refillable water bottle
- Shop local
- Vote every time. Voting is a luxury and a sure way to find change.
