Ottawa was the only Canadian city pitching for Amazon’s HQ2 mentioned in a recent NY Times article. I don’t want to read too much into that, ok…I do.
Mayor Jim Watson’s legacy project may not be Light Rapid Transit afterall. Winning approval for Amazon’s 2nd headquarters and the 50 000 jobs that come with it may just leave the transit legacy in the rearview mirror.
If we want to win Amazon, I think that we need to pitch what my girlfriends from Toronto notice when they visit me. It’s the big 3:
- Fresh air, clean & green
- Easy to get around
- There are always things to do…..festival city!
I think that Amazon HQ2 is the perfect fit for Ottawa.
I love that Amazon isn’t a factory, chugging out pollutants. Ottawa’s greatest resource, outside of the friendly, educated people who live here is that you can easily live in a natural environment with water views and only a 20 minute commute.
The good life.
