Purely my opinion:
Schools and the Ministry of Education need to calm down and ease off.
There’s a school in Ottawa that’s putting a 1 slice limit on kids’ pizza lunches.
The reason? Two slices would exceed the Ministry of Education limit for fat content.
Back in 2011, the Ontario government brought in new rules to restrict the sale of junk food in schools. (You can read more about the rules here.) That, I get. I don’t think kids (younger than high school age) need vending machines loaded with junk food, but putting a limit of the number of slices a kid can eat for lunch? What – are we gonna start weighing out their food too? Why are schools getting so involved? I don’t get it. This is a parent’s job. Not the school’s. So butt out.
