Horses. Ponies. Goats. Donkeys. Turkeys. Ducks. Geese. Roosters. Llamas. Sheep. Cats. Dogs. Rabbits. Pigs. Cows. Buffalo. Emus.
So. Many. Animals.
And it all started with this man – Andy Parent.
It’s an inspiring story. He picked up a copy of the Penny Saver (yes, this was a few years ago!), and said the home for sale at 810 Pelton Road jumped out at him. So, he quit his day job and moved from his home in Barrhaven to this home in Kemptville and Big Sky Ranch was born. It actually started as a hobby farm with just 4 animals, but soon, others just started showing up. The farm currently houses over 100 unwanted and abused animals.
Andy actually gets contacted by people all over the WORLD because of his farm. (It’s the only non-kill Sanctuary of its kind in Eastern and Southern Ontario.)
Big thanks to Andy for taking the time to talk to us. It’s such an amazing place – and all volunteer-run! Learn more about it below:
Here we are, horsing around after the interview!
