It’s one of those things that is hard to explain. A couple who loved each other for over 75 years die just hours apart.
George Spear loved to play ‘You are my sunshine’ on his harmonica for his wife Jean. They met at a dance near London, England in 1941. He was a soldier and Jean became what is known as a war bride.
George brought Jean back to his ‘hometown’ of Ottawa and they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary only a few weeks ago. They both died on Friday at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, where they were struggling with poor health.
Jean went first, then George followed a few hours later.
The Ottawa Sun has the whole story, and a beautiful one it is.
