Okay, you just scored last minutes tickets to a Blue Jays game, but it starts in an hour and you’re still in Ottawa, how are you going to get there in time?
Well, how about climbing inside a pod and getting shot through a sealed tube at incredibly fast speeds?
The technology is called Hyperloop, and with it you would sit inside a cylindrical vehicle, which would then accelerate via electric propulsion through a low-pressure tube, lifting above the track using magnetic levitation.
The route proposed by the Canadian arm of U.S. engineering firm AECOM would include a stop in Ottawa, which would only take 27 minutes to get to from Toronto, and then another 12 minutes to reach Montreal.
Would you be willing to be shot through a tube like this in order to get somewhere like Toronto in a fraction of the time it would take in a car or train?
