Ottawa Hydro sent a convoy of bucket trucks and crew who are ready to pitch in on the Georgia/Florida State line.
It could be the longest hydro restoration project in U.S. history so they need all the help they can get in Florida after getting walloped by Hurricane Irma.
The convoy from Ottawa Hydro will arrive today sometime.
So many of us suffered without hydro during Ice Storm ’98. My in laws survived for 23 days by keeping their fireplace stoked. Their house was about 7 degrees but their pipes didn’t freeze.
We had run food out to them when there was a knock at the door. It was a line restoration crew from Vermont. They wanted us to try the lights. We did. They worked! I think we all shed a few tears of relief and gratitude.
Now, Ottawa Hydro returns the favour.
There were commemorative ‘Ice Storm ’98’ t-shirts, posters and these certificates. Remember?
