Back in September of 2008, Ottawans paid $1.40/litre for gasoline, and we are getting very close to that all time high. For reasons yet to be discovered, gas prices rose in the National Capital region more than anywhere else in the country, post Hurricane Harvey. Prices are up 27%!
Hurricane Irma has been upgraded to a category 5 and is expected to make landfall later this week in the Caribbean. This 2nd hurricane in as many weeks could send our gas prices even higher.
We’re lucky that we don’t have to deal with the devastation of our homes and communities, but we don’t escape the effects of these hurricanes entirely. Even though we’re thousands of kilometers away, we pay the price at the pumps.
If your fuel budget can’t handle the strain, look for the local lowest priced gas of the day at ottawagasprices.com.
