A Montreal man will NOT be facing criminal charges after calling 9-1-1 when an Air Transat flight had to stay on the Ottawa International Airport tarmac for about 6 hours, without water or air conditioning.
Marc Jetté called police when panic began escalating on the grounded plane, with passengers yelling at the pilot to open the door, or let them disembark the plane.
Once on board the aircraft, Ottawa Police asked the person who had called 9-1-1 to come forward. When Jetté met with them, they threatened criminal charges based on the fact he had “wasted their time.”
Local lawyers were quick to offer their services, pro bono, if the case went to court.
Ottawa Police told media outlets in the city that no investigation had been opened, and Jetté would not be charged.
