If weather were an Olympic sport and Ottawa an athlete, we would be coming home with lots of Gold Medals!
If we get .4 mm of rain today, we’ll beat a weather record set in 1899 for the wettest July ever recorded.
So far, we have received 249.8 mm of rain this month. The record is 250.2.
Average rainfall for the month of July in Ottawa is 81 mm. We got 79 mm in one day alone, July 24th, which set yet another record. Woo hoo! No? No….not so much to celebrate. Many local farmers have lost their income to swamped fields.
Mean while, we just enjoyed the weekend since March without precipitation, making it the first weekend of summer without rain!
A little perspective can go far at times like these. Read on to see how much snow would have been made from all of this rain. Yikes!
