The life of a dog was celebrated this week, as hundreds gathered to salute Cena, a bomb sniffing dog who is now stealing the hearts of millions. He served 3 tours in Afghanistan while providing comfort and a calming energy to his handler, Lance Cpl. Jeff DeYoung, during some incredibly difficult days, like when he lost 7 friends in 3 weeks.
Jeff did his best to pay him back this week in Michigan. Since Cena loved a ride in a Jeep, he arranged for one to give her a ride to a military ship where he would euthanised. Hundreds lined the route while others joined in the parade.
Grab a kleenex. I send my deepest condolences to Lance Cpl. Jeff DeYoung, who just lost his best friend.
In this article, Global News quotes Jeff:
“My whole adult life I’ve had Cena,” DeYoung said. “When I was 19 overseas learning how to be responsible, I had Cena. And now I’m 27 and I’m having to say goodbye to one of the biggest pieces of my life.”
