NO! As if it wouldn’t be bad enough being bitten by a tick, if you’re unlucky enough to be bitten by the Lone Star tick, you could develop a meat allergy. For LIFE.
Ugh. For now, the Lone Star tick isn’t listed as one of the more common ticks in Canada, but according to a map, they’re getting ever closer.
The super sucky thing about tick bites in general is that if you get Lyme disease (or in the case of the Lone Star tick – the red meat allergy), there’s no cure. There’s treatment, but you may suffer some form of symptoms throughout your life. Thanks, Mother Nature. Thanks.
