Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that Ottawa would get $1.09 billion in Federal funding to complete phase 2 of Ottawa’s LRT.
Phase 2 will extend the Confederation Line to Trim Road in the east and to Moodie in the West. Connections to Algonquin College and an extension of the current O-Train line out to the airport will also be part of it. All should be completed by 2023.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said the extension would bring rail within five kilometres of 70 per cent of Ottawa’s population, reduce congestion and improve the environment.
