The Ottawa Mission yesterday saw a surge in donations. They came from people, mostly new donors, who declared, “Chrissy Sent Me”.
Christine Archibald was the sole Canadian victim in the London Bridge attack. She died in her fiance’s arms. Since her life as a social worker was spent making the world brighter for others, her family has asked for us to honour her by doing the same.
The beauty in this tragedy is that Canadians are listening, and honouring Chrissy with random acts of kindness.
I can see this becoming an annual way to remember the beautiful legacy that was Christine Archibald’s life.
The simple request from her family: “Please honour her by making your community a better place. Volunteer your time and labour or donate to a homeless shelter. Tell them Chrissy sent you.” is something that can live on in her memory.
A life that never saw it’s potential may live on in a new way, inspiring others to live more like her.
