It is an opportunity to celebrate 150 years, and be close to the action and NOT have to pay high hotel room rates.
You would THINK many of us would want to take advantage of the Ottawa Urban Campsite initiative. But not many have.
As a result the City of Ottawa is reducing the number of locations that will offer urban camping on Canada Day weekend from 11 to 5 due to lack of interest.
It will be the biggest party in the country. But apparently not many really care.
The urban version of “roughing it” costs $75 per night for a tent, with a minimum three-night stay. If you’re pulling up in an RV, the price is $180 to $230, depending on size, with the same three-night minimum.
The 5 sites that remain available for urban camping registrations will be:
- Jim Durrell Recreation Centre
- Tom Brown Arena
- Richelieu Vanier Community Centre
- St. Laurent Complex
- Earl Armstrong Arena / Splash Wave Pool
