Where else can you get a billy bookcase, a new couch, and a 75 cent hot dog and a cinnamon bun? People love IKEA. It seems as much for the food as for the furniture!
Last year, the food section alone raked in around $1.8 billion in sales.
There are actually reports that 30% of the IKEA customers who eat at the in-store restaurants come just for the food, which is why the company has actually tested out some pop-up restaurants!
|Swedish meatballs| Coming all the way to visit the world's largest Ikea store, I had to try the famous Swedish meatballs in that store. Honestly, I thought that the presentation of the food was a lot better in that store than I remembered 😂 Yummy meatballs and gravy as always, with lovely roasted potatoes, peas, and the obligatory lingonberry sauce 😍😍 This is sooo yummy, and a great comfort food on a chilly day ❄️ 📍Ikea Restaurant, Stockholm 🇸🇪 . . . #food #foodie #igfood #foodblog #meatballs #gravy #lingonberries #yummy #delicious #ikea #ikeafood #stockholm #largest #comfortfood #sogood
There’s no word on when/if stand-alone IKEA restaurants will become a reality, but if they do, they’ll start with cafes in city centres.
This is still one of my favourite IKEA ads…
