Following this month’s huge pileup on the 401, the thought that had crossed over many of our minds…was vocalized by Prescott Mayor Brett Todd.
He has asked the Ministry of Transportation to ban the transporting of toxic loads during inclement weather.
The 30 car pile-up, caused by white outs and poor winter conditions, involved several transport trucks and was further complicated by a hazardous material spill that sent many of the first responders to hospital, and may have even played a part in the one fatality that occurred.
The accident that happened on the 401 at the Mallorytown exit closed the Highway for 30 hours and added an element of danger that the crew responding were forced to deal with regardless.
Even veteran respondents commented that they had never seen this type of scenario before.
