As it turns out, we did break the record as the warmest February 23rd on record.
We hit 13 degrees today in Ottawa with the former record being 11 in 1984.
It’ll be a wet weekend, so more puddles and potential for flooding. Although we’ve lost a 3rd of our snow (22 cm’s since Saturday), but we still have 50 cm’s on the ground out there!
Now we have a chance of some Freezing Rain tomorrow evening (Friday) and overnight.
Looks like another 10-15mm’s on Saturday. So the run off will grow. Make sure your sump is running and backed up properly if you have a basement.
With the mild weather, the Rideau Canal is closed for the season — for skating.
We got 25 days in this year. Kinda low, but better than the 18 days of skating we got last year.
The average is usually double of what we got this season.
