I guess this is kinda like stashing it under the mattress?
Except 30 years ago — he stashed it in the TV and then forgot about it.
It wasn’t found until some workers at a Barrie, Ontario recycling plant smashed open the old TV and found the hidden treasure inside.
They found $100,000 in $50 bills. The man who put it there more than 30 years ago had forgotten he hid a large cash inheritance from his parents within the TV.
“It’s surprising how compact $100,000 is in fifties,” said the recycling plants V.P. of Operations, Lew Coffin.
Barrie police did some nifty work to re-locate the man who belonged to the cash.
He is a relieved 68-year-old man from Bolsover, Ont., a village of about 400 people in the Kawartha Lakes region.
They used bank records from 1985 to track the man down.
