In what seemed like a direct response to the new “ban” on people entering the U.S. from certain countries, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted the following on Saturday.
A second tweet, also timed to coincide with outrage over Trump’s immigration policy, included a 2015 photo of Trudeau welcoming a Syrian refugee at a Canadian airport.
And now the hashtag #canadawelcomesyou is trending on Twitter with lots of folks chiming in.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson also took to Twitter to express his thoughts.
