The canal has been closed to skating this weekend, so obviously we are dealing with thin ice.
The weather has been up and down all winter and it has made it very difficult for those who like to get on the ice, and for the NCC in trying to get the Skateway on the Rideau up and running.
Earlier this week down (near Cornwall) in Ingleside…..a man went down in his Jeep, at Hoople Creek near the mouth of the St.Lawrence.
He had someone there to help rescue him, so he was lucky he didn’t lose his life.
Still some thin ice out there on the Ottawa. And most certainly ALWAYS stay away from the mouts of rivers, creeks and streams
