I sure wanted to see this announcement made but, admittedly, I was hoping it would involve the now departed Edward Encarnacion.
Well connected sources are saying the return of Jose Bautista is imminent and both sides are currently hammering out a 1 or 2 year agreement which would see “Joey Bats” return to right field for the Blue Jays.
Encarnacion signed a deal with Cleveland just before Christmas, and the Blue Jays needed to make up for some lost power.
Even though there was talk that Blue Jay Management was looking for a change in the teams makeup and temperament, Bautista was clearly the best option left.
The deal is reportedly a one year deal with an option totaling $37 million.
The Blue Jays will be considered as one of the favorites in the American League with Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzski, Russell Martin and one of the best starting group of Pitchers in Baseball.
