Make Agriculture important again.
I believe this from the tip of my big toes, to the very final millimeter on the last strands of my split ends.
I know it’s not sexy but my personal view is that modern society is a little too caught up in itself.
Like ancient Rome, we think our society is invincible.
Most of what we rely on is dispensable, disposable and material. It’s man made, and it’s often plastic, or concrete. And many of us think that this is the stuff that matters the most. It’s what we’re teaching our kids.
Matters the most?
Talk to someone who has volunteered or been on hand for a natural disaster.
What really, really matters the most?
Is it information?
Well, sure information is helpful — but it depends what kind of information really doesn’t it.
It seems we’re a little too addicted to it, like its all really important or something.
Whether Justin Bieber is having a Twitter Spat with Selena Gomez, or Brad Pitt is a pot smoking bachelor; well honestly, how does it really effect you or I?
Clean air, fresh water, a roof over our head…and a safe, secure family and community.
And of course food security is a giant, essential part of that.
One of the most noble, down to earth ways of making an independent living… is choosing to become a Farmer, and to actually farm the land.
Why do so few want to do it? People are always hungry. It should be a fantastic line of work. Why has Farming been taken out of our hands as a viable option as a career? We must need Farmers, no?
Oh, but food comes from the grocery store, riiiiiiiiight.
The further away we get from Agriculture, the further we get away from who we really are.
Bring back Farming as a way of life.
