“National Sandwich Day.”
A reason to celebrate our lunches.
Where would we be without the “Sandwich?”
What would our lunches look like?
It would be all bananas & apples and for many of us; well, let me put it this way; I eat my sandwich first.
I am not sure humanity would be as highly developed as it is without the Grilled Cheese, or the Toasted Western. I suspect it would be an even more angry World if we didn’t have a Roast Beef Hoagie or a Egg Salad Sandwich to look forward to.
The Sandwich has been called Britain’s “biggest contribution to gastronomy,” and it was the 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, who claimed to be the inventor in the 18th Century.
The story goes that the Earl loved to gamble so much that he didn’t make the time to eat. To continue his gambling he would request “two pieces of bread with some meat.” Others took to it and it became the “same as Sandwich.” And the Gambling would continue, sometimes for days.
And now thanks to gambling, the World is a better place!
Naw, just kidding.
The best part of the day?

Hunger is a way bigger problem in our Country than most people realize and by the time many of us pay to run our homes and pay our taxes, there’s sometimes not that much left.
In Canada for the first time ever, we now pay more in Tax than we do to take care of our basic needs.
Unfortunately at times after we cut our budgets to the bone, kids can go to School hungry.
Have a Sandwich today and “Happy Sandwich Day” to you and yours!
