Since getting around downtown isn’t already tough enough, starting this week Rideau Street will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday until the beginning of December. The closures are necessary to accommodate construction on the O-Train Confederation Line project.
During the closures, OC Transpo buses serving the Rideau Centre will be rerouted to the MacKenzie King Bridge. From October 3 to 11, a free OC Transpo shuttle service will be offered between the ByWard Market and the Mackenzie King Bridge with various pick-up locations. Shuttle services will operate from Monday to Wednesday between midnight and 6 a.m., and from Thursday to Saturday between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Starting October 11, the Rideau Centre will allow transit customers access to the Centre through the Frieman entrance on Rideau Street to the bus stops at the Mackenzie King Bridge. As of October 13, and until the end of the Rideau Street closures, the free OC Transpo shuttle service will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays every 10 minutes between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.
