A defining moment in time for most Canadians.
As humble, unassuming Canucks we’ve actually learned to became very patriotic.
And when it comes to Hockey at least, we’re inclined to keep it that way.
September 28, 1972.
Many of us actually frightened that we would lose our identity to the dastardly Russians, who even looked like villains.
But we weren’t as frightened as the players were.
Hard to believe Paul Henderson is not in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
How more famous is; “Here’s a shot … Henderson made a wild stab for it and fell … here’s another shot … right in front … they score! Henderson has scored for Canada!” (Foster Hewitt)
I’ll never forget that moment in the hallway of Dufferin School in Brantford, Ontario, as we watched one of the old big boxy TV’s on wheels, lol.
Get him in the Hall for heavens sake!
