They have kept Al Capone’s Prison Cell in the same condition, and relatively untouched, since the days the gangster did time in the 30’s.
This cell is at the Eastern State Pen in Philadelphia.
Capone began serving his time at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta, but amid accusations that he was manipulating the system and receiving preferential treatment, he was transferred to Alcatraz.
He got sprung in 1939 for good behavior, after spending his final year in prison in a hospital, suffering from syphilis.
