According to Billboard, the singer shared some positive news about his condition after a meeting with in-ear technology specialist Stephen Ambrose, who’s system absorbs harmful pneumatic pressures inside the ear canal. Johnson says it works and hopes it could help restore hearing to his everyday life as well as performances down the line.
In a statement Brian said “I was really moved and amazed to be able to hear music again like I haven’t heard for several years now. I can’t wait for it to be miniaturized so I can use it in every situation from normal communication, going out to noisy restaurants, [and] performing live music onstage.”
Ambrose created the popular wireless in-ear monitor over 40 years ago, and when he discovered that his invention was damaging people’s hearings, he began working with scientists to make them safer.
He reached out to Johnson with an open message on YouTube when he learned that the singer was threatened by “total hearing loss.”
